THE MISSION OF THE GARTH HOMER SOCIETY IS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDEPENDENCE, GROWTH AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY WITH PEOPLE WHO STRIVE TO OVERCOME DEVELOPMENTAL AND PHYSICAL OBSTACLES.

Pathways Seniors' Fund

$30,000

Do you have a favourite comfy chair? The kind of chair that you can spend hours in, relaxing with a cup of tea, a visit with a friend, or a good book? Elaine has a favourite chair that she likes to sit in to knit at the Garth Homer Society. The problem is, comfy chairs are in high demand during story time and all day at the Pathways program for seniors with developmental disabilities.

Mobility is a little harder these days, age making Elaine, along with a growing number of senior clients, a little more fragile. That big comfy chair is just what Elaine needs for the long hours she wants to sit and relax in a place that is like a second home to her.

Today, we could have a waitlist of senior clients if we didn’t make special accommodation. We bring in an extra staff person from another program area, move furniture around, and make do with chairs that are less than comfortable.

In addition, $5,000 is needed to support the specific training for additional staff to learn how to work with our senior clients and their unique needs.

Our senior client numbers are more than last year and growing. We invite you to support Elaine and the other senior clients now and in the future with a donation to the Pathways Seniors’ Fund.

We are grateful for your ongoing support of our older clients with special needs. Donate to the Pathways Seniors Fund today by phone at 250-475-2270 or online through CanadaHelps
