MISSION:
DREAMS is for individuals who require 1-1 support. The focus of the program is active community involvement. It is through flexible and creative programming that clients are encouraged to increase their independence and self-esteem, make choices, improve communication skills and develop friendships.
What kinds of activities take place?
- developing communication skills using sign language, and other forms of augmentative communication
- community volunteering
- mobility training
- anger management
- learning new things like computer use, reading, and baking
- recreation including hiking, biking, swimming, riding and sailing
- physical exercise including aerobic exercise and strength training
- visual art-making including painting, drawing, sculpture, beading and crafts
- music therapy & dance
- attending special events in our community and natural areas
